"Art is a meeting place where there are no strangers" Brother Thomas Bezanson |

In
times past the village potter provided the ware upon which
local families served food and drink. The potter simply used
the materials of the area and gathered clay and minerals for
developing ware and glazes. After having harvested the natural
materials of the land, the potter created glazed casseroles,
pie plates, loaf pans, soup bowls and the like. Using these
handmade items in the home was a means of providing hospitality
and a humble way to ritualize the sacredness of the daily
meal and welcoming guests.
AIDG Pottery is committed to preserving, developing and passing
on the history, process and art of the potter by using time
honored methods of production. AIDG strives to support those
simple and sacred moments of sharing a meal and providing
a welcoming space.
Community outreach has always been a part of the focus of
AIDG Pottery which is accomplished through education, supporting
the development of others creative process as well as
participating in fundraising projects that help those
in need. |

AIDG
Pottery is a small, one person studio managed by Sr.
Lisa Wiese and sponsored by the Pallottine Missionary
Sisters. The studio is located on the property of our
retreat house in Florissant, Missouri. AIDG stands
for Ad Infinitum Dei Glorum or All for the
Infinite Glory of God, the motto of our founder St.
Vincent Pallotti.
Sr. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Art Education degree from
Maryville University and a Master of Art degree in studio
art/ceramics from Webster University. She has
taught art pre-K thru the university level since 1994.
Sr. Lisa creates hand made functional pottery. All of
the work is individually wheel thrown, altered, glazed
and then fired either in a gas kiln, pit, or in an electric
kiln.
The glazes are the product of much testing and are original
to AIDG Pottery. Some of the glazes are made from geological
materials native to Missouri. These materials are prospected
and mixed to make up a large part of the glazes available.
The glazes are all food safe and microwaveable.
